# Subscription plans

MailSlurp subscriptions combine a base plan with optional add-ons so you can scale from small test workloads to large production messaging programs.

## How subscriptions work
Each account starts on a base plan. Your base plan includes monthly quotas for key resources, such as:
- Inboxes created per month
- Emails created/sent per month
- API usage and related platform limits

If your workload exceeds the included quotas, you can enable add-ons. Add-ons are billed monthly based on your configuration and usage.

## Base plan vs add-ons
Base plan:
- Sets your core included monthly capacity
- Defines standard account capabilities and limits

Add-ons:
- Extra inbox/email capacity beyond base quotas
- Phone number capabilities
- Additional user seats for team access
- Additional storage and other account extensions

For current plan tiers and add-on pricing, use the [MailSlurp pricing page](https://app.mailslurp.com/pricing/).

## Upgrade your account in the app
To upgrade:
1. Sign in to the dashboard.
2. Open the pricing/subscription area.
3. Select the plan that matches your expected monthly usage.
4. Confirm the upgrade and billing details.

## Enable and manage add-ons
After selecting a base plan, configure add-ons to match your workload profile.

Typical add-on workflow:
1. Open subscription management in the dashboard.
2. Enable required add-ons (for example extra inbox/email capacity, phone numbers, seats, storage).
3. Review projected monthly cost.
4. Save changes and verify limits/usage in your account.

## Billing management and invoices
Manage billing from the dashboard billing area (Settings > Billing).

From billing settings, you can:
- View billing history and invoices
- Change plans
- Open the billing portal for payment and profile updates

In the billing portal you can update:
- Payment method
- Billing address
- Billing contact and invoicing email
- Tax/business details (where applicable)

## Usage statistics and monitoring
Track usage in the dashboard usage area (`/usage`) to monitor trend lines and avoid unexpected overages.

Use the usage page to:
- View account usage over time
- Compare current usage against plan limits
- Plan upgrades/add-ons before large campaigns or test runs

## Subscription operations checklist
1. Estimate monthly inbox, email, SMS, and storage needs.
2. Choose a base plan for normal expected traffic.
3. Enable add-ons for burst capacity or specific features.
4. Review usage weekly/monthly and adjust plan before limits are hit.
5. Keep billing contacts and payment methods current.
